Frequently Asked Questions

Can I fly as a visitor?
If you are a current member of the MAAA, you are welcome to join us provided NSFC Club members are in attendance. All you need to do is sign the Visitors Book - this provides you and the NSFC with the appropriate temporary insurance cover.
If you are not a member of the MAAA you can still fly but you must be accompanied by a current NSFC member and sign the Visitors Book. You are welcome to fly under these arrangements on four occasions; after which you are expected to apply for NSFC membership.
Does the NSFC provide training?
Yes we have a number of members who are qualified instructors. On a Saturday or Sunday, one or two instructors will be at the Tharwa or Williamsdale fields. Just make yourself known to them and make arrangements (join the NSFC, seek advice on a first plane or borrow one of the club trainers, then arrange a time to suit)

When are club meetings held

Club meetings are held monthly on the first Monday of each month. They are held at the Burns Club, Kett St Kambah and typically run from 19:30 - 21:00. All club members are invited to attend.

How do I join the club?

To join the club you will need to download the NSFC membership form from the Membership, Constitution and Flying Rules page in the Library section of the website. Ask a current member to second your nomination, enclose the correct joining fee and drop it in to one of the following people/places:

- Bring it along to a Monthly Meeting held on the First Monday each month, 7.30pm at the Burns Club, Kett St Kambah

- Post to NSFC, PO Box 442, Erindale Centre LPO, Erindale Centre ACT 2903

- Give it to a Committee member who are most easily located at the Tharwa and/or Williamsdale fields or see "Contacts" on this website.

Feel free to contact the Club Secretary if you need assistance in submitting your membership form.

Once your membership application has been approved and sent off you will be issued with an MAAA number and card which grants you the insurance coverage that will allow you to fly at any MAAA affiliated club.
